Title: October Ex's Open Cockpit
Post by: RiverAux on October 07, 2009, 02:35:15 PM
Since this is one of those things you have to go hunting for, not many people probably see it, but the EX's Open cockpit is the closest thing CAP does to a quarterly staff report on the national level.

The October version is now available: http://members.gocivilairpatrol.com/cap_national_hq/ex_open_cockpit.cfm

Some interesting items:
-CAP Officer Basic course in beta testing
-Though there is a new 60-3 and 116, they aren't requiring everyone to retest since they are interim versions
-new 3 minute video on cadet life available for recruiting, other venues
-Volunteer going quarterly in 2010
=AF sent more money for an additional 60 new vehicles -- getting 99 in FY09.

It's only quarterly?  This should be a monthly thing.  Or is there not enough going on in a 50,000+ member organization to to warrant a monthly newsletter from the main office?

There are nearly daily updates from the RSS feeds from the Cadet Blog, Headline News, Knowledge Base, and eServices.

Not to mention the unoffcial Twitter, Facebook and all the other social media internet sites.

That doesn't leave much left for a monthly newsletter.

Spending too much money on vehicle wraps.

At one point his column was a year behind.

I guess this salary isn't enough to keep him writing on a regular basis, but I think we were talking about the Volunteer.
