Title: CPFT injuries
Post by: twe on September 10, 2009, 03:50:53 PM
Doing the CPFT shuttle run has caused several minor injuries in my unit.  What precautions do other units take to prevent shuttle run injuries?

1) Make sure the surface is free of debris or other loose items.

2) Make sure the cadets stretch before doing the shuttle.

3) If possible, do it on carpet or some other "sticky" surface, like a rubberized running track.

4) Use something large enough to be able to be easily picked up.

5) Run the mile.

1. Make sure the cadets strech.
2. make sure there is no debri on the course.
3. have a senior member monitor the cadet for any indications of problems with the cadets.

Make sure shoes are tied tightly.  Young people these days have a nasty habit of wearing shoes to loose, or not tied at all.

Hydrate before and after.

Warm up and cool down stretching.
