Pretty straightforward pinnacle landing, really.  I think the angle makes it look like the rocks are closer than they are. 

Having helped put an aircraft onto a heaving, pitching & rolling LPH steaming along at 20kts in the middle of the Sea of Japan, I can say that I MUCH prefer a good pinnacle landing to a deck landing.  The pinnacle ain't goin' nowhere.

That guy clearly has both kinds of landings in his logbook.

It was a pretty good text book Pinnacle.  Nice job.  Saved some SAR ground pounders and victims a long walk.

All very true.

However, I think the female anchor was a little over the top in  her assessment.

Actually, the pinnacles are not so tough, it's the treacherous winds around some of the pinnacles that really mess with a pilot.  This one looks like it could have had some of the bad winds.
