Title: Mission Observer Classes in IL Wing?
Post by: Chief2009 on August 28, 2009, 06:53:15 PM
I know there's a squadron in Illinois Wing that puts on classes for Mission Observer. The problem is, I can't remember which one. I just got my Scanner and want to move up to Observer.

If anybody knows, I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks,

DN

I have a unit in NE IL that does an aircrew class every year, however it lasts about 4 months and happens on evenings - not likely you'd be able to participate regularly based on your location.  There are others that do similar schedules down South and in Chicago.

I'd suggest pushing your need through your Flight and Group CC to the Group list to see if any coordination can be made or to a class can be setup in your Group.

As an FYI, you don't need a formal class, just the materials and an SET to challenge the taskings.  Whomever signed you off as a Scanner may well be an MO-SET as well.

We here in Group 9 the one to the due south of you are going to start working on Scanner/Observer training again.  We are going to pick up in the next couple months and work heavy in 2010.  Just PM me your email and I can get it to our Group Operations Officer and try and get something worked out with you.
