I am helping put together a New Officer Orientation course this weekend. I am doing a presentation on professional development, just the basics of how one gets promoted, the 5 levels, specialty tracks etc. I just wanted to see if anyone has a presentation like that. Just so I don't have to re-invent the wheel, just use something that is already there. Let me know. Thank you.

Done. It is really not that great a briefing, just something that works for us.
Everything in the military is divisible down to 3s. Learn one, do one, teach one is the basis of
all training in the military. It is the same for the basics of technician, senior, master. In the classic
military cadre all grade were divided into 3. Private 3rd, second, first class for instance. NCOs were built same way as were the 3 levels of 3s that made up the officer Corps. 2nd lt/1st Lt/Capt
and Maj/Lt Col./Col.- Followed by Brig Gen./Lt. Gen./General. Each step up meant you trained, you did, you trained some one else.
By plugging the PD course into the context of all military training gives the student a sense of understanding. Try a bit of that.
I build presentations on various subjects simply because I am firm believer in the old adage that you don't really know a subject until you try to teach it to someone else.

Absolutely. In a organization I was previously with we required new folks to give a training presentation during training events. Although they weren't thrown to the wolves completely to develop the training on their own, they did the bulk of the work and learned an enormous amount. Plus, everyone in attendance received a helpful refresher on the topic.
May I have a copy as well.
Thank you.
