Hello everyone,
I'm at that time in my life where its time to start driving! I was thinking about getting a magnetic CAP decal for the tailgate of my truck but was wondering if there is a policy on using decals for personal use?
What would the purpose be? Why wouldn't you be content with a simple license plate frame or bumper sticker. What's the point of the large obtrusive decal?
I don't know really, i'm just 'like' that.
and I wasn't talking about something completely and utterly huge, I'm just talking a small patch, bumper stickers bring down the value of a car.
You would probably be better off getting a CAP license plate frame, or something similar. There's less "wanna-be" effect that way. I have magnetic emblems that I put on my doors, but only when on a mission, or other real CAP business.
See CAPR 900-2
The CAP emblem may generally be used on (also see Table 1):
1) Corporate aircraft (as prescribed by CAPR 66-1 and any other directive or policy letters as issued).
2) Member–owned vehicles used for CAP business upon written approval of the wing or region commander as appropriate. Such approval will be granted only where its use would reflect favorably upon CAP.

Thank you.
Also in my own defense of not looking like an utter loser. I wasn't talking about a 60 inch by 60 inch logo. I was talking maybe 3 inches. I just didn't wanna use a bumper sticker as I said It brings down the value of a vehicle
^Hey...I see you just got back from encampement! Congrats
As stated, the "CAP Business" verbiage is the key. Its inappropriate to be running around town going to the local supermarket with the decals on your vehicle.

Bumper stickers can be removed. (If I had to guess, a parent, thinking of the old style "paper" stickers, told you they devalue the vehicle, but nowadays, stickers are made of vinyl and come off completely.)
License plate frames can also be removed.
Not sure what you're looking for here. The only magnetic logos I know of are the large ones intended FOUO.
Not necessarily a recommended practice, but you can make your own, of any size, by putting a sticker on magnetic backing and cutting to shape.
It doesn't sound like he's looking for the "CAP Official Vehicle" type of magnetic decal, but more of a "I support CAP" type. Something like the "support ribbons" everyone has. Not so much a "wannabe" issue so much as a morale issue.
I'd put a magnetic "I support CAP" type thing on my vehicle, but I don't stick stickers to my vehicles.
EDIT: I seem to remember the CAP Bookstore having a CAP Emblem that said "MEMBER" on it. It was a sticker for your window.

Comes with the new member materials now.
May I suggest this:
Available here Evergreen Composite Squadron (http://www.coloradowingcap.org/FindAColoradoSquadron/Group1DenverMetro/EvergreenComposite/OrderBumperStickers/tabid/511/Default.aspx).
It has been approved by National HQ and is a fundraiser for the squadron I work with.
I like it, but I am somewhat biased - I designed it.

That's snazzy lookin', I'd put that in my car...
Anyone know if it is possible to purchase the window decals they give for free to new members?
drift....I wonder why new members get all the free stuff? I would think the members who have been around for years should be 1st in line? or at least last in line... it appears if your not new... you don't qualify to be in the line to get new things... heh...
So many candidates for public office make up magnetic vampaign signs that following an election, the signs are pput away. Contact a cadidate and see if he/she has any signs left. The 12 inch decals that Vanguard has can be mounted on the sign and cut to shape. That way the only cost is for the CAPO emblem, not the magnetic backing. Still needs Wing Commander OK to use on private vehicle.
Re:"why don't old members get anything...". When was the last time your credit card company gave you one of those great introductory offers?

lol... I get your point... I'm just saying... The new person just joined... although I won't leave over nic nacks... some people who feel less appreciated might get over the hump with the delivery of a random nicknack...
They don't need to send a decal or binder every time your renew... but... that's a good time to do it... (one time)
Sorry for the drift though...
My 2 cents on the matter. I agree with the others that a license plate frame, or if your state has them, an actual CAP licenseplate would do you well (check with your tag agency for that one). Vanguard has a lot of POV approved decals that can be used, and will not de-value your vehicle.
I had a CAP window decal (personal preferance over bumper stickers) in my POV. Blew the motor though so removed the sticker when it came time to sell and had no issues. Usually a little alcohol will clean up anything that doesn't come off.
Something else I've seen done is to use the metal plaque seal and some super adhesive used for metal auto decals. Looks great, especially for those new car owners who have an issue with stickers. Downside is its not a cheap alternative. the Seal itself is $50 so unless you are driving a Mercedes, I wouldn't recommend this. Your money though.
Added note: Since you say you have a truck, CAP has a trailor hitch that is available through Vanguard. Looks good. I would get one if I had a truck.
