You heard it here first ;D I wish I could have made it there but real life got in the way. Congrats to my fellow wing members.
QuoteI want to extend a great "Thank you!" to all of our unpaid professionals that participated in our Search and Rescue Evaluation this weekend. We received a "Successful" rating, allowing us to continue to perform our Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, Counter Drug and general Emergency Services missions. Without this rating, showing that we are qualified to do our work, our ability to continue to be an active Emergency Services organization would have been in jeopardy.
In particular, I want to note some exceptional performers: Capt Adam Springmeyer, who received an "Excellent" for his work as a flight line supervisor; our Ground Teams which were rated as "Excellent", TFO Jessica Caplan who was roundly applauded for her work in the "High Bird", Lt JT Gill who was an engaged and involved Logistics Section Chief and Capt Krista Morrisen, who served as a critical link to the Richmond community.
Although they are a Region asset, the Evaluation Team also recognized our procedure for requesting an Archer team, having a GA-8 available, properly using the Archer asset and then also the WI WG Archer team's performance in the role.
We are already planning for the Guided Training Exercise coming up the fourth weekend in October; the Region is currently looking at having this three Wing exercise (IL, OH, IN) at Columbus (BAK). Focus for Indiana Wing will again be developing and strengthening our Mission Base staff, faster deployment of aviation assets and working to get permission to deploy assets from home base, and more accurately assessing and projecting GT and aircrew needs.
Thank you again for everyone's involvement...all of our groups were represented and I was proud of your work this weekend.
W. Mark Reeves, Col CAP
Commander
Indiana Wing Civil Air Patrol

First, congrats on your successful SAREVAL. Great work, and it sounds like a few stand outs got some great recognition.
Question, and this isn't a knock on INWG, but why doesn't the wing that hosts NESA get an Outstanding? Aren't most of the staffers from that local? I know a lot aren't but still...
Again, NOT a knock, honest question. Good work again!

AFAIK we don't really host NESA. It merely occurs inside our state. I think NESA's charter is NHQ-007.

Ah, ok, I always thought it was like a Hawk Mountain situation. Carry on.

Seems to me that most of the GSAR staffers are from Alabama, Maryland, and Massachusettes. The aircrew staff looks like they come from all over. There are some folks from Indiana that come every year.
There's also no requirement that you're a NESA grad to be in ES in INWG. Its simply one national training school.
Several MAS staffers are from ILWG.

Makes sense. I think the GSAR commandant is from Alabama, and the MAS commandant is from IL. Not sure where the ICSS commandant is from.
COL Reeves, INWG CC, only recently stepped aside as NESA MAS Commandant.
After many years of excellent, excellent MAS operations. And never so much as a scratch or a ding, but rather world class Mission Aircrew training and qualifications.
He is the BEST!
Indiana has had some issues. They were grounded for quite a while a few years back.
With COL Reeves in charge, it surely will be "Onword and Upward!"
Congratulations, COL Reeves and Indiana Wing ES!!!

I didn't know he was MAS commandant. Word on the street is he's the goto guy for the Becker so I guess it makes sense.

I didn't know he was MAS commandant.
I worked as an Instructor Pilot for Mark as Commandant for 4-5 years.
He only left because he wanted to devote his full attention to Wing Commander.
What was the MAS's loss is INWG's gain.
He is sorely missed as the NESA MAS Commandant. He always had a full and complete grasp on the big picture all the way down to the details. With him in place, there never was any uncertainty of vision, direction, timing, or tasking.
Under his command, we did a lot of good work, and had great fun doing it.
But we can understand, since he is doing such good for Indiana Wing as Wing Commander.
I thought comms did an awesome job (I was the personal comm guy for the ops guys) I had a great time, stressed me just to see the ops guys at work definately don't want there job. I had fun since my two favorite majors of all time were there. "what is the color of the wind sir?" good time overall.
