Let's all take a moment this weekend to remember those who can't mow the lawn, enjoy a picnic or parade, or go camping at the lake. They can't do these things because they paid the ultimate price for our precious freedom on battlefields near and far. Take a minute and pause for just a moment to consider what we have because of these individuals who fought for their country and died for it so that we might be free. To all these brave patriots, I salute you and thank you for your sacrifice.
Let us also add to the list not just the RM but our brothers and sisters that served CAP in WW 2 on active duty, and the 60+ that died in the line of duty.
I am paying my respects on my website (http://www.copeshow.com). May the fallen always be remembered. They fought and died for our freedom and protection. :'(
I spent a great 1.5 hours this morning attending the Memorial Day ceremony in our tiny mountain community. I represented my American Legion Post and presented a wreath.
As most of you know, I served my country for a long time and am proud of every minute of it. I occasionally remind people that everyone who signs on the dotted line in the US military signs a blank check to the people of the United States. Some of us get the check returned, uncashed, when we leave the military. Others have the check cashed and they didn't return.
For all of you, thank you for your service.
There's hardly a day that goes by where I don't think of my friends who lost their lives in service to their country. I'm grateful to have had the honor of serving with them. They gave their all so all of us could enjoy our freedoms.
We have had the privilege of getting old and gray. They are forever frozen in our memory as what we once were... young, strong, and brave.
To all that have served, and have had the chance to grow gray .....Thank you.
To those that served, and will not grow gray.... You are not forgoten, you will live on in the hearts and minds of those whose lives you touched.... and that is a debt that can never be repaid, Thank you and God Bless you
I started yesterday morning going aboard the USS Midway for a memorial service and spent the rest of the day on board.
