The other day I learned 2 important lessons about CAP Talk.
The first lesson is to never post anything about uniforms on CAP Talk.
The second is not to post on CAP Talk, I hope as a long time CAP member, that this is NOT how you treat your membership at whatever level you interact with them, if so well it explanes the falling off of membership. Sad very sad.
Have a thick skin and consider the source... Snarkiness is alive and well here!
There are two or perhaps three subjects virtually guaranteed to start a flame war on CapTalk. Uniform threads (no pun intended) seem to be the ones in which Captalkers have the most emotional investment. Remain calm. Looking at the Bell curve of rationality of CAP members, isolating the ones who are most comfortable with the Internet, and comparing these to the general public will tell you that there are some people here who are more FUBAR'd than a football bat. You could start a fight by offering the the suggestion that the United Sates is a beter place than Iran....Just watch, some Iranian CapTalker will launch a war shot any second. Be cool, have a thick skin. You can actually get a lot of good information here from a lot of people with a background and experience in CAP and life.
I am a member of a few other message board sites and I've found that the vibe you describe is symptomatic of online messages boards in general. Granted, it can sometimes be annoying to get flamed for various things, but it is sadly a product of the online environment- regardless of whether it is right or not.
My suggestion is to take what is said with a grain of salt, don't take anyone seriously, and just focus on the great information that can indeed be found on this site.
I've never seen you post before so I did a quick search to read your 5 previous posts.
I will say that I had difficulty following what you were saying as the grammar, sentence structure and spelling read like a short-hand text message. There's another fellow on this site who says he doesn't care about grammar and such so I pretty much try to avoid reading his posts as much as possible. Online forums or formal documents, I have higher expectations of senior members adults in general.
Other than that, you'll find that online forums such as CAP Talk often have folks with pronounced barks who act as though they have an equally fierce bite. But in reality, if confronted or even met in person, you'll find that many of the "tough guys" are big softies. As many will tell you, take it with a grain of salt and don't lose sleep over anything anyone says on here.
Hmm, considering that CAPTalk has some of the strictest moderators I've come across in terms of stopping personal attacks and flames of all kinds before they go very far, if you can't take it here you need to unplug your internet cable.

This is a heavily-moderated forum.
Most have much worse in terms of personal attacks that this one. This one is fairly mild in that respect.
By the way, what is this "fallling off" of membership you're claiming?

You're not going to break too many hearts with that.
All you need to get along well here is decent grammer, and the ability to back up your opinions. Are their people here I disagree with? Yeah. Are they're opinions or views any less important or intresting then my own? No.

Welcome to the internet; anonymity is a cold hag.

I agree: be careful what you post, lest I snark you severely!
Or worse yet, I will say '
NI!'
