Good job, Sean!

Now, if you can just flood out those pesky UAVs from Grand Forks AFB, and bring back the tankers ... I might move back!  :D

Nice I've only seen like two pictures taken from CAP aircraft and they looked nowhere near as good as that.

Thanks for the pics!

I'm watching with interest what you guys are doing for this.  My day job is interested in how CAP is employed for this kind of mission.  We also looked at Gustav last year.

Also, the flooding you guys have down south directly impact us here.  So we're very interested in how bad the situation will be.  Everyone here is watching closely.

Imagery is becoming a frequent Texas Wing mission request from local, state, and federal agencies.  Post Hurricane Ike the Texas Wing took over 40,000 photos of the impact area at the request of the state, http://magic.csr.utexas.edu/storm/08Ike/Imagery.php

We also fly aerial imagery missions for damage assessment, such as tornadoes and floods, when requested by county emergency management agencies through the state, http://picasaweb.google.com/marcmoffitt/CAPPhotoHighlightsOfGraysonCoStormDamage?feat=email#

Read on am1500.com

UAV's are quite possibly going to get the assignment from USCBP for a Predator UAV to check out the flooding later this week....

Could be the wave of the future>>>

Here is more of what they are doing:

Civil Air Patrol Assisting in Historic Flooding

Over 100 Civil Air Patrol Members from Minnesota and North Dakota are engaged in Disaster Relief Operations in the vicinity of Fargo, North Dakota. Additional members from Minnesota are expected to join them today.

Members from the two states began filling sand bags and positioning them so damage is prevented to homes and critical assets in the community while aircrews were able to get limited images of some of the flooded areas for emergency management officials.

A website has been set up with daily updates and images posted to it. The site can be accessed at http://www.ncrpao.org/specials/2009_floods/index.htm

Officials expect the Red River to Crest on Thursday.

Al, have you tried getting your CAP releases over to the Air Force guys?

The top story on AF link is about this, but doesn't mention CAP.  http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123141761

Sure would be nice if CAP was included in AF stories about operations that both are involved in.

Per our Wing DO, we just surpassed 4000 images. Customers have ranged from county emergency managers to the State Water Commission to the US Army Corps of Engineers. We have somewhat transitioned into a "cav scout" role.... flying set patrols and calling in problems up front while capturing imagery for later analysis.

We have made numerous river runs pinpointing ice jams and calling them in via State Radio. State Radio dispatchers post the lat longs to Web EOC (statewide web-based disaster management program accessable to any with a login and password)

Two public sites set up:
