Title: Keep Warm Fellow Members Living in Nothern US
Post by: JAFO78 on January 15, 2009, 12:00:08 PM
To all of our CAP friends. I hope you all stay warm during this COLD snap.
I received an email this morning stating that many schools had closed due to temps at or near -20 in Minnesota. :o

Don't forget to keep your pets inside.  If you warm up your car don't turn your defrost temp to high you will crack your windshield. Keep it in the middle to cool.

Just remember that all your friends down here in Florida are cold too. 42 here this morning, but not as cold as you.  >:D.

Too cold to go to work......no matter what part of the Northeast you live in.  It is only supposed to get colder this afternoon and tomorrow.

Take tomorrow off too

That is God's subtle way of telling you something:  MOVE.   :D

It is cold, though.  I had to put a jacket on last night - got all the way down to 55 after dinner!   >:D

That's a very popular photo from the Antarctic stations that show guys doing that.  Something about the water going straight from liquid to a vapor.. submlimation .. something..
/me wishes he'd paid a little closer attention in science class

It was -33 air temp with -53 windchill this morning.  It was so cold that the heater in my car made no heat so I didn't have to worry about cracking!!  Interestingly enough- school was on time in Fargo this morning- now that's hardcore.

I just checked where I used to live in Illinois and it is -12 with a -35 wind chill. (1400 hours central time).

Chicago has had more days of continuos snow than in the past 120 years.
Flint Michigan broke a 94 year record for the cold.....

Boy...how bout that global warming >:D

Keep your batteries warm and close to your bodies...

Typical Fairbanks, AK temperatures range in the minus-mid-forties.  While I'm here training in Oklahoma, my wife sent me a photo of a gas station back home: -62 degrees and gas was $2.42 for regular.

Bundle up, that's the most sympathy I can give!  :D

Good luck and good hunting,
-Scott

It was 81 here in Sunny Sandy Eggo when I left work at 1400. I had to turn the 'Burb AC on to cool off when I drove. It was parked in the sun w/o the windshield shades. Sux to be me!  8)

I would tend to agree ... to each is own, I'd never want to live in SoCal!  I can't deal with the traffic.  Isn't it great how people graviate towards what's good TO them?

Good luck and good hunting,

It's been getting below zero past couple days and the local banks and business that offer the temp on their electronic signs are even off, I know the cheap gauge we have on the shop won't work so many degrees under zero even though it supposedly shows up to -50 (or is it -60?)
All I know is that its frigid out and even in the kitchen where it's warm my feet are frozen.

It's cooled a bit here, down to 80...but supposed to warm up on Monday to 83.  The a cold wave hits mid week with temps down to the low 70's,  maybe down to the upper 60's next weekend.

Time to bring out the thermals ;D
