Title: Full Lace and Speed Lace
Post by: discjockct on January 03, 2009, 07:32:19 PM
What is the difference between full lace and speed lace combat boots?

Speed lace boots can be laced speedily. While full lace you need to thread the laces through the grommets everytime you put them on. I prefer speed lace boots.

Side zippers - laces once, think about it again in a year or so!

Speed lace boots have metal loops that make it easier to lace them up, vs the grommets in the leather on regular boots.

I prefer speed lace, and that is what I have always worn.

DC- I agree, kind of with your description. :D
The loops on the "speed lace" allow you to step into the boot and pull all
the slack out of the laces without relacing the boot laces.  It does work well
and helps when you have to put the boot on in a "speedy" manner.  You
can't pull all the slack out of the laces with a pair of boots or shoes with
regular round grommets in the leather, the laces will bind.

With speed-lace you knot the ends once you lace up up once and just loosen and tighten as necessary to remove and don.  With my ICBs I pull 'em on and grab the knots with one hand to tighten 'em up before wrapping the laces and tying them.
