Yeah, I may be in the past, but 2008's retro.   ;D

That reminds me of a funny part from Austin Powers.  Oh no, I've gone crosseyed. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU0XiLOXdP0)

Alright, time to carry on a new years tradition.  In about 45 minutes I leave to go do the Polar Plunge.

I completely missed the entrance of the new year. Was completing paperwork for year-end reports.  Strongest thing I had to drink was iced tea (and not the alcoholic kind)  :(

I guess that the trials and tribulations of being a squadron commander.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all my brothers and sisters in CAP.

That's ridiculous.  I wish they did that around here I'd do it at least once

How did it go by the way?

Coldest I have ever been in my life bar none, but still one of the greatest experiences of my life!
I woke up thinking, "this is stupid" and had my doubts about jumping in.  Then, when I got to the lake (this is Lake Michigan I'm talking about) and saw the ice shelf on the shore, and the twenty feet of jagged ice chunks floating around I thought, "This is CRAZY stupid....AND I LIKE THAT!".  12pm, strip down to skivvies, run in, dive all the way under per Polar Bear tradition and haul out of there back to the beach.

Namby-Pambies  ;D :D ;D

I worked from 0800 to 0100 yesterday and then 0700 to 1300 today.  Cool thing is, they put me up in a nice room so my wife and kids came out to stay and enjoy the festivities at the beach.  Awesome time except I was working and couldn't drink anything more than some really good coffee to keep me warm.  And I did get to kiss my wife at midnight, even though I had to wake her up.

If I were to tell the tales of the drunken debauchery I witnessed last night around midnight it would make the most hardend cops and servicemen on this board blush, make the ladies run away screaming and probably kill every cadet that's ever posted on this board and cadetstuff.org combined.

That's one reason I stayed home last night. I've worked too many New Years Eves in my years as either a police officer or paramedic.  I've seen things that still make me blush and I've been out of the field for 11 years.  Amazing what some people will do under the influence.

My single goal was the kill the rig I was assigned to, and I came darn close to succeeding.
