Title: Looking for a free cloud chart
Post by: ascorbate on November 22, 2008, 02:14:06 PM
Would anyone know of a good commerical or government source for free cloud charts (you know, the kind that one sees hanging up in a flight school or science classroom from time to time)?

Try  NWS near you

I do remember AC Delco or Champion spark plugs used to put one out years ago

Here is the PDF version of a cloud chart from the NWS
http://www.arh.noaa.gov/brochures/docs/CloudChart.pdf

It's used in the NWS Southern Region "Jetstream" online weather school here:
http://www.srh.weather.gov/jetstream/synoptic/clouds_max.htm

Jetstream has another cloud chart here:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/srh/jetstream/synoptic/clouds.htm#skywatcher

Clicking on a cloud picture in both of the previous two links brings up details about the cloud type.

Here's the story behind the latter chart.

And the commercial original source of this chart.
