I am looking to find former Cadets from the now absorbed 704 squadron. (OH037)
Particularly if you were a Cadet from 1990-1995
We met at DESC in Kettering OH!
If you are one or know one, let me know!!!
I need your help!!
Thanks ;D
OH-037 lives on as the Wright-Patterson Cadet Squadon.

That is true as of 1999, but was not the case in 1990 - 1995. I am looking for cadets from 704 or OH-037 from that period.
Can you perhaps dig up the history of 704 and see when they participated in a National Cadet Competition between 1992 and 1994 and who the participants were?
I know that we took Wing and subsequently competed at Region.
That would be a big step forward for me in my quest.
I have already checked with Wing and Group with no luck.
Region response is pending.
Unfortunately the current OH-037 unit has destroyed my records per directive.
Thank you Sir.
Anyone on the Drill Teams for the Great Lakes Region competition in that time frame out there?
Looking for some evidence of participation that you may have showing who the teams were and final results.
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried contacting region HQ? I would try Lt. Col Middleton, IIRC he was at a minimum on the staff for the competition at that point, if not running it. He just took over NCC so he should be easy to track down.
I would also be pretty surprised if your wing didn't have some sort of documentation on this. I know my wing has pictures int he conference room at HQ with pictures of the teams that have gone to region.
Is/was Col Middleton part of the GLR NCC?
Wing told me that they did not keep records but perhaps I did not ask the right question. Anyone work at Ohio Wing willing to do some digging for me?
Thanks
As far as I know Lt. Col Middleton has been involved with the GLR Cadet Comp for at least a decade, and from what I hear most likely quite a bit longer.
If he does not have the information he will at least be able to point you in the right direction. Again up until last year he was the Project Officer for the GLR Cadet Comp, and has now taken over as the National Cadet Comp Project Officer from Rob Smith
You may want to try the Group VII web page, could be some of the folks were around at that time

Yup, already did and same answer as Wing. Problem is, I could probably get the info if I were local, but I have not been local to the Unit/Group/Wing/Region for some time.
I will keep trying. Thanks for the help so far.
I guess that I am a little suprised that the Squadron/Group/Wing does not have it documented somewhere common as to what teams participated or even won NCC competitions.
I would think that would be something the units would like to have a history of.
I have emailed Col Middleton. I will keep my fingers crossed that he can help.
All I have is final results and National standing for Great Lakes Region
Region Winner Overall National Standing
1985 Illinois Third place
1986 Illinois Third place
1987 Ohio First place
1988 Kentucky Eighth place
1989 Kentucky Thrid place
1990 Michigan Fifth place
1991 Michigan Unknown
1992 Illinois Third place
1993 Illinois Fourth place
1994 Illinois Third place
1995 Illinois Second place
1996 Illinois First place
1997 Ohio Unknown
I remember loosing to IL at Region. I think that 1993 was the year that we took second.
Of course that narrows it down to 1992 to 1994 since that would be the only times I would have competed as well as lost to IL.
Would be nice if Wing had a similar list showing winners and Region Standing.
Was hoping that the team roster for the teams was still recorded somewhere that would effectively show that I am eligable for the NCC ribbon.
I know I earned it, but would like the proof for my Senior Record. Sure wish that I grabbed my Cadet Record before it was shredded.
Thanks, getting closer.
Gold old group 7 people. I was a cadet in 706 from that time frame and ended up being married to the enemy... a 704 cadet. C/Col Amanda (holding the last name from the internet).
I took command of the Wright-Patt squadron for about a year, and hate to say it but there aren't many of us "old" cadets around anymore in Group 7. Lt Col. Hood is still around as well as the Sponsellers (more so Jean) at Group HQ, and if you were on drill team then you know Spurling, who is also still kicking. Most of Group 7 is new blood. Not a bad thing at all, but not like the old days.
P.S.
Hi Tim!
Any chance your contacts could help me on my quest?
I remember Spurling and the others sound familiar. I found Post and he is looking for me as well.
It has just been so long.
Thanks
I will see what I can do, but don't expect much. Not many people keep in contact anymore unfortunately.
Thanks Much.
Once I can get the past, then I can begin the future. ;D
Col Middleton has not responded.
Anyone have a list of the Ohio Wing Commanders from 1990-1995?
Thanks
I was in 704 from 82-90. I know that we went to region comp at Chanute in 1986 (I think) and lost to Ill. Sadly, any records from 704 probably disappeared when DESC closed and the squadron merged with the Wright-Patt Sqdn.
I still keep in touch with some of the people from back then. Let me know if there's anyone particular you're looking for and I can try to get you in contact with them. I have some pictures you may like at http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=83535684&albumId=2596784.
I agree that Spurling would likely have the best knowledge of who did what back in the 80s. Either him or Pete Gallagher.
I'm trying to put together a casual 704 alumni "reunion" dinner 12/23 at Marions (Town & Country). You're invited if you happen to be in the area (I'm coming up from Georgia).
