Title: First Response Team of America
Post by: Lancer on June 20, 2008, 05:18:03 PM
Has anyone seen CNN or read their website recently? There is a gentleman by the name of Tad Skylar Agoglia who owns his own disaster recovery company, he's taken it upon himself to start up new non profit group called 'First Response Team of America', where he, up until now, has been paying out of his own pocket to help storm ravaged areas recover from storm damage.

Here's his website:
http://www.firstresponseteam.org/ (http://www.firstresponseteam.org/)

CNN Article Link:

I personally applaud him for his selfless efforts,    If we had more people like this stand up for our country when help is needed we'd be in pretty good shape.

Just wanted to share that...

If you read all the articles you will find that he does and did receive payment from Federal and State government.  He used his savings which he accumulated after Katrina FEMA payments came in to him, to fund a few cleanups by himself.

You better believe he will charge the Federal State and local governments for his work.

He is a "contractor", nothing more nothing less.  Why doesn't CNN do a story on the men and women who are not getting a dime filling sandbags, digging out basements for the elderly, delivering food and transporting victims to hospitals??

They do.  The one reporter has been out with the people filling bags all today.

I'm a little skeptical.  I'd want to know more about the separation between the work the company does and the supposedly volunteer section does before I sent any money in (I'm not in any case).  If he is using the same equipment to do paid work on a regular basis, I'd be worried that donating money would just help him buy more equipment for the business.

^ The guy is already going after lucrative contracting jobs for the FED.  He is no doubt making some cash.  I also am skeptical of the whole thing.  I think it is great we have businesses that can go in so quick and begin the cleanup, but really.....it seems somewhat strange he would donate volunteer hours and money, when he can do it for profit.  I think he is doing the work for free upfront, but will send bills out when FEMA and state money starts being sent to towns and individuals int eh disaster areas.
