I do not think that there is anything for this yet, so here I go. Did your squadron participate in any Memorial Day Ceremony? If so, vote and feel free to share with us what you did and where you did it! You might even post some pictures.
My squadron participates in a Memorial Day Ceremony every year and is usually held at the Rest Heavan Home in Rockwall. It was a great outcome of people that showed up. Our Color Guard posted the Colors and then there was a ceremony. A Lt. Col. was there and shared with us experiences and stories of people who gave their lives for their country. The song "Proud to be an American" was sung which brought tears to everyone's eyes, just thinking about the great sacrifices many have paid for our freedom. It was ended with the retirement of the Colors. It was a time of family, friends, and most of all, rememberance, that none will soon forget.

Well, I didn't want to go first but no one else has said anything...
1. Shirt garters? or at least an iron? preferably both...
2. White cords - the Texas wing web site says that Pegasus Composite Squadron was the wing champions. Also Texas does not have a supplement to 39-1 (at lest there isn't one on the web site with the others) authorizing cords for color guards or any thing else, I would recommend talking to your CAC rep about this.
3. What is the job of the cadet standing to the color guard's left if you call the commands? And you need to teach him how to put on an ascot.
4. Service Caps - 39-1"Service Cap: Optional for senior members. May be authorized by wing commander for cadet officers. Normally worn with service dress uniform. Cadet NCOs and airmen will not wear the service cap (Exception see Chapter 3)." I guess you could say you were preforming as an "honor guard" presenting the colors, but then you should have silver cords on, ribbons are required on the blues shirt when worn as an outer garment, and your ascots don't have the honor guard patch on them.
5. Harness straps go UNDER the epaulets.
6. The cadet standing behind the color guard has his ribbons out of order. and his grade insignia is way off.
Don't take this as anything against you, your an airman it's not your fault. But do take these things back to your squadron and correct them, especially if you are going to post pictures on the internet for everyone to see.
On the topic, good job showing your support on memorial day, I do believe there was a topic started on this, look back a couple of pages, you know, closer to memorial day.
dang
Thanks for those corrections. I have deleted the picture, as there are many mistakes. I have sent PMs to both the above posters with explainations with what happened. I believe we will be needing a staff meeting after meeting on Tuesday.. Don't let this stop you from posting your pictures and what happened at your Memorial Day Ceremony, though. Cheers! ;D
Our squadron honor guard does a round the clock reenactment of the Arlington changing of the guard ceremony. We have been doing this every year since 1995 at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. The 2003 team actually went to Washington and trained with the folks at Arlington. The folks at Floral Haven have created a replica tomb and provided a facility for the team to use. We do a change every 30 minutes and have enough members on the team to give everyone plenty of off time for rest. I'll try to get a photo posted soon. I just hope the photo lawyers are accepting of it. ;)
California Wing participates in Memorial Day activities at Live Oak Cemetery in Monrovia, California and have done so for 40 years now.
We put flags on all of the veteran's graves on Saturday and participate in the ceremonies on Monday.
Monday afternoon we have a ceremony at the grave of Gil Robb Wilson who is buried in Forest Lawn cemetery in West Covina, California.
