In theory, all, or at least MOST of the people here should be rocket scientists of one sort or another.

I know the joke is they misspelled motorcycle, but I'd like to just point out that I can probably fit my Saturn in one of those spots. I stand before you a broken man.

Could be worse man. I have two 2005 Hyundai accents!
Of course they are both paid for but still. At least I still have 1992 Chevy S-10 ...

Well where do you want the poor guy to park? The other sign said all other spaces for for Atomobiles. I'm surprised someone didn't insist on one of those "Motercycle" spaces being a handicapped one.

What can I say? It's an AETC base.

Dang, George, for a second I thought you were serious and I had to go look at the picture again to see if there was a sign...I've got to get better (been sick for a few days now).

I would figure that if AF1 is on an AFB, it would be in a hanger. But then again, I'm always amazed when I learn that something that makes sense to me is actually the other way around for a reason that makes even more sense than what I originally thought :D

Umm... it is a logistics training base, tankers traning base and ABM training base. Yes, those squadrons are  training squadrons (TRS) and yes, those squadrons do fall under AETC. As far as the base goes... it is Materiel, not AETC. I stand corrected.

Not a Logistics training base. Not a Tanker training base. Not a ABM training base. That's three strikes, yur out!

Tinker is the home to the Oklahoma Air Logistics Center, the 552d AWACS Wing (ACC) and the 513th Air Refueling Wing (AFRC).

The base is owned by AFMC and ACC and AFRC are tenants.

Tanker training is conducted at Altus AFB, OK. ABM training happens at Tyndal AFB, FL. Logistics training happens at a couple of bases, Lackland AFB, TX, Sheppard AFB, TX and Keesler AFB, MS.

Just because its a "training squadron" doesn't mean it belongs to AETC.

No, but that's what a student at one of those training classes just told me. ABM student.

ABM training starts at Tyndall, but then they separate into two weapons platforms. The E-3 training is conducted at Tinker. The E-8 students go to Robins.

Tinker used to have an associate unit that trained KC-10 crews before they moved (nearby) to Altus. The Air Logistics Center trains for logistics (secondary training site, not tech school).

Every base conducts continuation training, but they don't belong to AETC...

Nope, each KC-10 base trains their own crews and maintenance people.
Training is part of the support contract for the KC-10.
I'm a former KC-10 Boom Operator, so I might know just a little bit about this.

'Gucci' boomers sit down and pass gas... their boomer brethren on KC-135s lie down on the job!  ;D

Keeping it on topic, I remember back WIWOAD at 'Spang Quentin' they put up a new sign for one of the Army's ADA (Air Defense Artillery) batteries. It was supposed to read  'HHB 6/56 ADA' (Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 6th Battery 56th ADA) but was alll hosed up: "HHB 6/56 ARMEY". Needless to say the battery commander was right on the phone with the Spang base commander... it got fixed right away.

That's great... it's what numerous crews from McGuire have told me... I was with the 514th AMW there (Res), but I worked on C-141's.

I bet they smiling when they told you that. Now, were they KC-10 crew members or C-141 crew members?
The 141 guys wouldn't know any more then you do.

The contractor who has the training contract for the KC-10's (currently Boeing) is responsible for conducting all training for both aircrew and maintenance personnel.

There never has been a "schoolhouse" for KC-10 training other then the simulator facility at each KC-10 base.

Air Force Maintenance only does home station maintenance to include "B" checks with contractor support.
Depot maintenance or "D" checks are handled by whoever gets the contract. At one time it was American Airlines.

You may have noticed a bunch of AGE equipment that is painted light blue on the ramp at McGuire.
That stuff is owned by the maintenance contractor and can only be used on the KC-10's.
Use it on something else and the legal office gets a notice of a Breech of Contract suit.

They were Cadillac drivers... and they're always smiling.

Unlike the base commander at Tinker when he sees this photo.

It is really sad that this is what the Air Force has come to. Then again I think it a crime that the military has more civillians then uniformed members.

I want a return to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the threat of Communism, and the kind of funding that only Reagan could give.   ::)

That equipment was provided by McDonnell-Douglas as part of their maintenance-support contract.
McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) owns it, it is not government property. It's private property.

As a NASA engineer, I shudder in horror at the spelling and grammer and such in a lot of our project papers and presentations.
Also, from what I've seen, we took the list of things NOT to do in a powerpoint presentation, and turned it into a checklist for making slides...
