Title: New NIMS Memo from NHQ
Post by: Eclipse on April 11, 2008, 09:19:52 PM
Apparently it is making the rounds down the chain, with a file name of
"NIMS Training Memo - Final April 2008.pdf"

I can't find it, anyone have a copy?

Letter is attached.

A number of changes from what was in the draft 60-3.  Fewer specialties have to take ICS-200 and IS-800.  The only additions are ICS-400 for MSO and LO (which is per NIMS). Bottom line is that it still doesn't match the NIMS recommendations, nor the proposed SAR resource typing and credentialing.

^ I don't know about that.  I do know we have a well credentialed group of certified FEMA ES instructors who went over the requirements before the NB approved them.
However, if there is another standard which is higher up the chain, I would send Mr. Salvador your references and suggestions on improving the list.

He needs look no further than the original 60-3 draft revision that the NB watered down.  I believe that one did meet the NIMS standards for upper-level mission base staff, which we will not now do.

Danke on the document.  Don't have time to review it tonight, getting ready to host the iCC at the conference tomorrow.

(11:30 the night before is NOT the time to find one of your shirts was ruined by the cleaners).   >:(
