Title: capchannel.com video downloads timing out
Post by: iamchj on March 04, 2008, 07:33:56 AM
Every time that I try to download a video by clicking the links on the top of the video page on www.capchannel.com, the linked page times out, and I get nothing.  Has anyone else had a similar problem with the site and been able correct it?

I've had the same problem, as well as the file is not supported error. Funny, because I have the most recent version of Windows Media Player and every other movie I play online works.

and...No, I have not been able to figure out what was wrong. I even emailed the webmaster; he said it should work unless my Windows Media Player was out of date.

I just gave up.

I found a solution to this a while ago, give me a bit to refigure it out.

-UPDATE-

Well, that idea is shot.  They locked out access to the ftp storage area, and the "click here" downloader doesn't have any files in it.  Originally you could weasel your way in and get to the videos directly.  I believe it has to do with the javascripting used for the marquee.  It seems like the java doesnt link anywhere.  After some investigation by opening up the page source, I found the actual URLs to the videos (i.e http://civilairpatrolnhq.sitestream.com/WereThereAudioPSADownload.vsml).  They also time out, as well as civilairpatrolnhq.sitestream.com which leads me to believe the domain doesn't even exist - thereby the videos probably don't exist either.

The ftp site is up at capchannel so get the videos before it takes a dump again

ftp://video:download@ftp.iqstorage.com/

IMPORTANT NOTE - You may have trouble opening the videos by just clicking on them.  If so, do this: Right click the video link, and hit "copy link URL".  Open windows media player, go to file, open URL, paste the URL in the box, and it should open.
