How to annoy the IRS (http://www.gcfl.net/archive.php?funny=2750)
I'm glad I'm getting money back, otherwise. . .
And why would you want to do something so ignorant? That's just a waste of tax dollars trying to jam up the system. IRS doesn't make the tax laws, thet just implement and enforce them. If you owe money, it's probably your fault in the first place. Don't take it out on the IRS folks.
Yeah, that'd be great! Hmmm...this person could read where the staples were supposed to go - I think this one goes in the AUDIT pile! >:D
I e-file, no problem.
You would get a letter stating your forms had been received and not processed with a request to file again.

That is about as false of a statement as I've ever heard. If you are smart with your money, you should owe taxes. Getting a refund is basically the gov't repaying you for an interest free loan you gave them during the year. Do you think they would loan you money at 0% interest? I'd rather have my money work for me, not Uncle Sam. I pay every year, never EVER had a refund. (having good investments and a successful business will do this)

I try to adjust my withholding so that I come as close as I can to breaking even at filing time. I figure if I get within about $200 dollars either way, that's pretty close.
I had a fair sized refund this year, but that's because I had some greater contributions this year. I probably won't have that next year.
I claimed Single/0 for the longest time, just because it is what I had always done. When I bought my house and got married, my return skyrocketed. Sounds good, but like BigMojo says, that's just the government making money off of you.
Now I'll be getting a stupid rebate check I didn't ask for in a couple months, which is really my own money being given to me a little early instead of a little late, at the cost of even more deficit spending and even more interest on the national debt. Yay Congress, thanks for looking out for the best interests of the country instead of bribing us to protect your own re-election.
Like a lot of people I know, I will not be pumping that tax rebate check back into the economy for needless consumer goods. If there really is a recession on the horizon, I have to protect my financial well-being more than I need to buy a high-def TV.
Sorry for the rant. >:(

Same here. It will go right into the tin can I have buried in the backyard.
Or I will take a portion of the cash to buy those "forever stamps" from USPS, and just use them when the price of a stamp goes to $20.00

You really need to stop burying things in your back yard. You are going to run out of room.
And they stopped selling the forever stamps. They aren't sold forever, just good forever.

But it's not false. You even explained why, as did davedove.
Each taxpayer determines the amount withheld from his income, through use of the W-4, and Estimated Taxes. If you have to pay, it's because you made decisions leading to that event. Your choice.
I have excess withholding taken out to cover income we get that has no associated mandatory withholding. So the government gets a tax free loan. I just treat it as another form of savings and do something fun with when I get it back.
YMMV.

Honestly, I suck at saving money. Even the one smart thing I tried to do didn't work. I bought $200 worth of stock in a company i used to work for and a muetral fund, plus $5 in fees. It's now worth about $146 and some change. So I decide to get a refund rather then having to plan to save the money. Out of a set of irresponsable options it seems to be the best one :P
lolz I suck at saving too, I go buy all my geeky consumerist crap there is :(
