In case anyone hadn't heard. Another agent lost protecting the border. Both suspect vehicles have since been located in Baja, burned. Mexico assures us that we will have their utmost cooperation.
Commissioner Message: Death in the Line of Duty
(01/19/2008)It is with great sorrow that Chief David Aguilar and I inform you of the death of Senior Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar, of the Yuma, Arizona Border Patrol Station.
Agent Aguilar died in the line of duty today after being struck by a vehicle driven by a suspected narcotics smuggler in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area near Andrade, California.
Agent Aguilar began his career with the United States Border Patrol when he entered on duty July 21, 2002, as a member of the 519th Session of the Border Patrol Academy. Agent Aguilar was assigned to the Yuma Border Patrol Station since his graduation from the Academy.
Agent Aguilar was 32 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and two children. He is also survived by his brother, Senior Patrol Agent Marcos Aguilar, assigned to the Nogales Border Patrol Station in the Tucson Sector.
Mourning bands are authorized for all uniformed CBP employees from now until the time of interment.
Agent Aguilar's death serves as another stark reminder of the risks our front-line agents and officers face each day as we strive to secure America's borders. This despicable act will only strengthen our resolve to continue securing our borders even in the face of increased violence.
We are already working today with support from many federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and the full cooperation of Mexican law enforcement and military authorities to find Agent Aguilar's killers and bring them to justice.
On behalf of the entire US Customs and Border Protection family, Chief Aguilar and I extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Agent Aguilar.
W. Ralph Basham
Commissioner

This is called leveraging for bribes. They'll cooperate until the killers pay off the proper
Commandantes then watch the trail go cold.
I'm about ready to say the next war we declare should be on our Southern neighbor. 12 million people illegal entering another country, sanctioned by another country, for the purpose of generating revenue is an invasion in every Law of War.
Hell, isn't that what the war protesters claimed Bush did in Iraq? What about MExico?
^ I believe that the Mexicans believe our southern states to be "their sovereign property". I think the Mexican Government fully supports the movement of their citizens across the border. I also think that in 10 years there will be enough Mexicans illegally int eh United States that they will rise up and declare California, Arizona, New Mexico to be part of Mexico again.
The State Governments are only adding to their own destruction by passing Spanish language resolutions and by limiting the ability to protect the borders by US Citizens.
When the nation realizes what is happening, it will be too late. One example comes to mind. Has anyone read the "Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire"? Readers Digest version......excluding the political and social aspects of the decline of that civilization, toward the end the slaves and "undercover" agents outnumbered Roman Citizens 2 to 1. How can you defend against annexation when you are no longer the majority?
Change needs to happen now, to prevent the similar from happening here. The first thing we should do is stop the free importation of goods and services from Mexico and demand that until they control their citizens, we will levy heavy taxes on any product brought in. We should then stop the free monetary support we provide to Mexico to combat the drug problem. Finally we should declare Mexico a hostile nation, and prohibit US Citizens travel to and movement through that Country. Mexico depends heavily on US trade and tourism. We can easily Bankrupt their economy. And it should happen as soon as possible.
Personally, I'd prefer making the first 5 miles of the border on each side a "Free Fire Zone" and light up anything 2 legged that moved.
Every border incursion made by the Mexican Army (yes, it happens. Usually to rob ranchers close to the border) would be answered with conventional Tomahawks into Mexico City.
I'd also arm our Indian Reservations on the border with heavy weapons with orders to secure "our" border.
Illegal aliens will be given 60 days to leave. After that they'd be treated as illegal combatants and shot as same.
Johnny Y. don't screw around, friends.
FYI: the newspaper this AM had an article to the effect that a Mexican National had been apprehended by Mexican authorities. He apparently was the driver of the vehicle(Hummer) that struck the BP Officer. He reportedly lives in Mexicali, which is just across the border from the Sand Dunes Monument where the incident occured. Some CAWG CD folks are quite familiar with the dunes.
