Title: Question about the Community College of the Air Force
Post by: Grumpy on January 18, 2008, 02:11:31 AM
The new Catalog for the Cumminity College of the Air Force (2008 - 2010) was just sent to my squadron from the Air University.

The question is, as members of Civil Air Patrol, are we allowed to enroll in the CCAF?  If not, why are they sending the catalog out to CAP squadrons?

Don't know about that, but there is the American Sentinel University http://www.cap.gov/visitors/news/cap_news_online/index.cfm?fuseaction=display&nodeID=6192&newsID=3909&year=2008&month=1

There are some courses we can participate in and some we can't, all are listed in the catalog - same pub for everyone.

I knew about the new American Sentinel University.  That sounds great.  I also knew about the correspondence courses.  I'm probably TDO to take the CCAF courses but can "we" take them for college credits?

I'll want to get the info out to my younger troops and cadets.

Looks interesting. Maybe it's time to chase that MSN I've been putting off.

CCAF is not a college in the traditional sense of the word.  It grants degrees based on military training and experience coupled with OUTSIDE education.

There are no "classes" offered by the CCAF.  The catalog just spells out courses need for its different degrees.  Those courses can come from any accredited source.

As far as I know...you have to be AD/NG/RES to take advantage of the CCAF program.

That's the way I remember it too.  It's strange that they would send a catalog to a CAP squadron if we can't use it.  I suppose I could use it as a door jamb.
