Title: Excellent D&C Video
Post by: Stonewall on December 17, 2007, 07:47:27 PM
The United States Army Spill Drill Team.... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dxTBK7jI1s).

Yep, the 3rd United States Infantry, The Old Guard.

One of the better videos I've seen from them.  6:11 long

I was on the Drill Team in college. It had always been a dream of mine to be the Platoon Leader of the Army Drill team. But oh well..........

I had gotten picked for the Drill Team, Tomb of the Unknowns and Sentinal duty at the Pentagon (Secretary of Defense Perry).  I chose the Pentagon.

That's how I got this:

Yep, and if I were to have gone to the Tomb I would have gotten this bad boy:

Only a few hundred of those have been awarded, so it would have been cool.  But I was happy with my decision because at the Pentagon, I learned more about Dept of Defense, the military as a whole, how things really work, and got exposed to security and protection, which ended up being in my future.

Drill team got nothing to show for their work except bruises, broken bones and the occasional stab wound from a bayonet.  Yes, I'm serious.

Great video. Thanks for pointing it out.

My son is partially interested in Drill. Maybe this will help him decide.

Stonewall, when I grow up can I be you?  ;D

Better stop it or I'll have to widen the doors in my house to get my head through.  :P

Not sure why you'd say something like that, even though I know it's in jest, but there are tons of folks out there with 10x the "cool" experiences I have.  Truth is, I enjoy the simple life now and while I enjoyed doing some neat things in my life, they took their toll on me physically, mentally as well as my personal and family life.  And I haven't even done 1/10th of what the real cool guys do.  But thanks for the comment  :)

That. Team. Is. Amazing.

We showed a similar video at an open house we did, except it was the USMC Silent Drill Team

I like theirs in particular for the rifle inspection, seen towards the end of the video.

Also, heres the Navy's performance after/before the Army's (from Stonewall's post).

Here are some good ones from the Tomb of the Unknown.

In the first one, you can hear the distinct siren of the Ft. Myer fire dept in the back ground.  I remember that particular siren whaling all the time as I attempted to sleep in the barracks right next door.

Here is one, a short one, where a spectator drops his water bottle and attempts to retrieve it when the sentinel takes action.

And one during winter, with a reading of the tomb guard's creed.

And an excellent bit from Fox News on the Tomb...
