Hey all,
First in a long time that I am not asking about regs, uniforms, or CAP issues.
This is a local family that decided to light up their house this year.......
40,000 Lights, Computer Controlled, Low power FM Transmitter......

Wow!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Someone has way too much time on their hands...
...and the world is thankful for it
Yeah....um.....that's probably the best holiday display I've seen since the lighting of the tree in good old D.C. At least you can see what will happen when you give a laid off software programmer some lights and a computer (that was a joke, you can laugh anytime). Awesome display!
nice, nice.... I really like their description of the true meaning of Christmas, too.

You should give him a lit CAP display to add to his lights? Instead of Santa on the roof top... how about a miniature CAP plane
Kinda olde news. It's a kool display, but a guy in Mason, Ohio, started doing this back in 2004. Here's the Snopes article (http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/xmaslights.asp) about it, with videos.
Its the Griswalds from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!!!!
;D
Thats great. I began putting up our lights a few days ago. Of course being here in Texas I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. 89 Degrees.
Ummm.....easy solution to putting up lights, just leave them up all year. I still have Halloween decorations hanging on the doors and glow in the dark easter rabbits stuck in the front yard. (Not really).
Here's my personal contribution to global warming.
It has "full depth" lighting - meaning every branch is coved all the way to the center.
This generally takes about 2-3 hours to finish, not including the multiple trips to the store for replacement strings.
I've been doing it this way since our first tree about 14 years ago, and we used to have a contest each year to guess the number of lights. I have no idea what is on there this year, except that it is probably in the neighborhood of 15-1700 lights, as I went through 3 350's just on the bottom course alone.
This year it is pulling ~9amps.
Here's some more people with WAY too much time on their hands:

Glad I don't have to pay any of their electric bills....

My neighbor tried that a few years ago. He just flipped up the icicle lights into the gutter and left them all year. Turns out those lights aren't rated to handle Wisconsin weather 365 days a year... Come Christmas next year, nothing worked.

If nothing else the UV is gonna eat up the vinyl of the wires - might even wind up being a little dangerous to plug them back in.
