Sadly, I have been notified by an old friend in Ohio that Lieutenant Colonel Audrey Haddad has passed away. Anyone who served in the Ohio wing over the past half-century knew her. I knew her as an officer in a sister squadron when I was a cadet, and I commanded a squadron in a Group she commanded in the 1990's. She was dedicated to the Civil Air Patrol in a very deep and profound sense.
Please remember her and her family in your prayers.
Lt. Col. Haddad was also the former Group Six Commander. I've heard stories of her kindness. This is a sad loss for Ohio Wing.

Yes. I was in Group 6. Her whole family life was around CAP and the Group.

Major, how long ago were you a member of Ohio Wing? Your name sounds familiar, but I don't quite know from where.
1963-1966 as a cadet, and 1993-2003 as an officer. I commanded a cadet squadron in Toledo and served in a couple of positions on Group staff, then I moved to Florida.

Of course, had it not been for the influence of the cadet program, I might live in a penitentiary now, but hey... It would still have been a "Gated Community!"

Oh, I completely understand Major. That is why I joined as a cadet from 2001-2003. When I left, I spent the next two years wondering why I did, so I came back as an officer. I've been thankful to have a program like CAP in my life. I've vowed to myself to do everything I can to help better this organization. That's how I get my fulfillment. I'm not all about the bling (but I'm not against it ;)). I'm about helping the cadets realize that there is more out there than gangs or drugs. Thank you for your work in OHWG, and the best of luck to you in FLWG.

Cool. I joined OHWG in early 2002. I'm still involved with OHWG.
I remember the Haddads of Toledo, The father was our Group commander when I was the Cadet Squadron Commander in east Toledo. I remember the first time I was at their house the Group HQ was the living room, what a CAP family.

I am currently in the OH-096. (Stow) I'm a former member of OH-131 (Parma when Lt Col Middleton was in command) and OH-236. I was in 236 for 1 year.

You don't need to take the test for the BCUT. You still would have gotten an ROA card for that. I'm in OH-236 now.

I was at the Squadron on Metcalf Field, off of the 280 freeway, we moved to Toledo in 1970, attended Waite HS.

I attended Waite HS, was the Cadet Commander in 606, and served there from 1963-1966. In 1970 I was just coming home from the Southeast Asian War Games, where I was on the team that placed second.

Duct tape was not discovered to be the "Universal Tool" that it is until well into the Vietnam War. It was called "100-mile-an-hour" tape then, and was used to patch bullet holes in helicopters.
I flunked algebra. Had a bunch of teachers, but just could not understand it. Still can't.
