Title: They must not care anymore!
Post by: ironputts on January 21, 2026, 11:51:43 PM
Hello,

I have spent almost 8 years taking the information from the Final Salute section of the Civil Air Patrol webpage and writing it here. I wanted to take CAP very basic information and add with a picture and any other information I could find to pay homage to a volunteer who has passed. I spent 33 years in the Civil Air Patrol before I decided to retire. I have reached out to National HQ asking for the status of the Final Salute and received only lip service. We will get back to you they say. No one has and the last month it was published was November, 2025. If anyone can find out why I would appreciate it as I would like to continue. I feel we all worked hard for this organization and a nice good bye with all details commemorating our service and life is not doing much. CAP reached out to me several years back asking if I would be interested in writing this information for the Volunteer. I said I would and then I only heard they were not interested anymore. Maybe this is it and I would just like to say it was a privilege.

Give me a few, I'll see what I can find out.

Can you tell me where you find the "Final Salute" on the CAP webpage?

It's in the "Member News" section under National Staff, https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/members/cap-national-hq/member-news (https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/members/cap-national-hq/member-news). Interestingly, it seems that since mid-2019, the final salute is the only item that has been posted in the member news section when they stopped posting cadet and senior major milestone awards.

I suppose it's possible that no one in CAP has died since last October, though I doubt it.

Marketing & Communications has been in the process of rolling out a new and updated cap.news site for the last 60 days or so. I think that in the process of preparing for that big migration, they just put a lot of other updates and content changes on hold.

I do know they plan to move that over to the new cap.news
