Title: Corporate FDU
Post by: stillamarine on August 13, 2016, 08:51:36 PM
So would this be an appropriate zoom bag for the corporate side? Even technically I am still within H/W standards I am beginning to accept that with my midsection storage facility I look inappropriate in AF blues and flight suit. I think I'm gonna just make the complete move over to the corporate side.

Looks about right to my eyes - the styling is a little different:

And the velcro is in a weird place, but otherwise I doubt anyone is going to take notice or care.

The Tru-Spec cotton (not Nomex) flight suit is almost identical in cut to the CWU-27/P except the material is cotton and it adds side-zippered 'happy pockets' which the GI issue green bag does not have. (It did - briefly - during the McPeak era, but that flight suit was quickly retired. Sizes on the cotton suit are generic S/M/L/XL/XXL instead of specific sizes in the Nomex (both blue and green).

As a non-aircrew type... can you explain what a "happy pocket" is?

The cotton Tru-Spec flight suit has side pocket zippers (with no pockets) which the current issue Nomex suit does not have. Good for adjusting the T-shirt if it rides up. In the olden days the flight suit was worn over a regular duty uniform.

Old, old days. I started flying in the Air Force in the early 1970s and this was before my time.
