Please read my prior posted message and responses regarding this topic. I did not know one could place comments with a poll. Sorry!

Not a chance.

In the remote possibility of me donating money in my will, it will be to the local squadron I have supported, or the squadron I was in as a cadet.

Nothing above the squadron level has ever convinced me that donating money to the national organization was a good idea.

I have donated in the past, however I am much more interested, now, in donating to my wing and it's well being...

At the risk of sidetracking, this new guy wonders about that ^^^.

What exactly CAN a local Squadron buy with a large sum of money if it gets donated? Would it wind up at Wing level anyway? It seems all of our gear locally, from planes to vans to radios to cameras and more ... is all owned by the Wing.  What is a local Squadron allowed to own autonomously?

Anything they want, and that the unit finance committee approves, though vehicles are problematic because of insurance and
related issues, so those are generally "owned" by the wing / NHQ, but there's no reason a unit couldn't procure and outfit
a command trailer or similar.   When I was a Group CC, we dropped nearly $3k on refitting a derelict ICP trailer and it is still in use today.

And yes, at the end of the day, it's all corporate owned equipment.

If it is a large enough sum of money I decided to leave, I'd create a donor advised fund, put someone I trust in charge of it to carry out my wishes, and permanently loan equipment to a squadron.

Yea, if ever I win the lottery that I don't play, I'd make a trust fund, which gives out awards, but maintains control in case the unit/CAP cease to exist.
