National HQ has just released the CAP Strategic Plan with specific goals from 2016-2020.

There's a real missed opportunity here to explain to Joe Average Member why having a strategic plan is important, and why this one in particular will make their CAP membership more worthwhile in the coming years.
I read an earlier draft of the plan, and just did a cursory read of the 2016 annex. I think it's great that the organization is setting measurable objectives for itself. I hope the wings and regions are able to translate these objectives into concrete plans and communicate the importance of achieving them to rank-and-file members.
All in all, it seems like an admirable plan; well thought out, and doable. The problem, as dwb so aptly stated, is at the wing level and below. With diminishing resources (personnel), it will take some imagination and real motivation to make things work. I like the idea of mentioning "fun" and "teamwork" in the plan. This has been sorely missing in the last few years.
Interesting read to say the least.
Not sure how we are going to measure some of the items but good ideas.
I LOVE the idea (in the 2018 annex) of a CP week long school for seniors to be on par with IG/safety colleges!
This is something I have advocated for ever since coming to the dark side. CP management and smooth functioning is way more complicated than what CAP has given credit for in the past. The hundreds or perhaps even thousands of different ways the CP is run across the nation is astounding.
I want to be a part of that badly!! Let us make this one happen! (hint hint NED)

"Complete the five year plan in FOUR YEARS, Comrades!"
Seriously speaking though, I hope all the planning was worth it, and it all pays off for the better!

Well that went to Hades pretty quick. Every organization worth its salt has a strategic plan. This is one of the better ones that I've seen in my 20+ years of CAP involvement.
What's wrong with trying to complete the 5 year plan in 4?

Not a thing. The silly attempt at humor using "comrade" based ha-ha's fell short.
Good plan, though there is some ballsy stuff in there. Good luck trying to get those mil o-rides though, not a lot of units are going to be keen on that especially if it's unit funds we are talking about.

Didn't work for either the Soviet Union or Peoples Republic of China
Decent plan, but like many it has way, way, way, way too many goals than can be effectively implemented and/or tracked. You just can't have 100+ goals and really achieve them. You need to really focus.
They could cut down a lot of this by removing the parts that are actually going to be implemented by lower-level echelons. We don't need Wing assignments in the national plan.
I am disappointed by focusing so much on technology in ES. Granted, I didn't go through every annual plan, but I would have hoped there would be some more focus on developing ground-based disaster response capabilities.

Technically, it went to Siberia in a handbasket.
Personally, I like the plan. I'm very curious how any of the tech items will be carried out.
