#totalforce means we now work with NORAD to track santa! :D

QuoteWe told you in a blog post last year that from 1973 until sometime in the 1990s, CAP conducted its own "Santa Trek" net.  Many of you told us last year that you thought it was a good idea to revive this tradition.

Now, the Total Force initiative means we can do even better than our Santa nets of the past. The result is our new formal partnership with NORAD.

The big question here is when we participate and Santa is found on Radar will the participants qualify for a find ribbon? This is a mission is it not?

Wonder if Santa upgraded his ELT to a 406 MHz unit...

Please.  Everyone knows the most important thing is whether he is wearing the new ABU Santa suit.

No, he has to be wearing a PT belt.

>:DThe PT belt requirement is waived per 60-3 if Santa is carrying the official Vangard ANSI Class II safety bag to deliver the goods

I thought that Rudolf's nose voided that requirement! >:D

Circle to land only available when Rudolph's nose is operable.

See attachment...

I think I know why NORAD wants our help now...

My dad just sent me this manual. I thought it was appropriate to the discussion.

It's nice to see they found a use for them since the Marines are no longer interested in them.  Apparently, they are too noisy.

Yup, now it is just a matter of getting battery power density to the point where these things become viable. But hey, since they are in storage, maybe we could assign them to ground teams? :D

Step 1. Attach ELT to robot.
Step 2. Tell robot to run wild.
Step 3. Commence search for mobile ELT  >:D

Great idea.

I have heard - and known people - that have chased ELTs being shipped on a truck in highways, or in a ship or boat in a river. I actually think I was chasing one along the Hudson River some years ago. And sure I was chasing another a different time. Never found either... This can give training on this!

That was a good suggestion.

Another, please?
