Hey,
Long time lurker of the military and the Air Force, about two weeks ago I was recommended by a C/ 2d Lieutenant (now C/ 1st Lieutenant) to join Civil Air Patrol.
I went to my first meeting and it was great, my nearest squadron is active got some great leaders, all that good stuff. Now that I got that cleared up I want to say what I posted on reddit at /r/civilairpatrol, the answers were good, but they didn't really answer my question so let me say that now...
"...I'm looking to join CAP... I went to my first meeting (not in CAP) on Saturday [two Saturdays ago], and I'm definitely going to join now. I got everything mostly down, drill is okay, enthusiastic, respectful, good at remembering things, confident (they asked if I wanted to give a speech on the qualities of leadership in front of people I had never met! Gulp!) but it's the PT that bothers me. I have a condition called pectus excavatum I'd suggest looking it up and looking at pictures (not for light hearted) I also recently did the mile run at my school and got around 12:40. My question is any tips and will they reduce it because of my condition?"
To add to that I didn't think much of it, but when I was in track and field last year I hurt my ankle and it still hurts when I run. I went to physical therapy basically the whole time I was in track minus like one week.
And last Saturday they did some community service and they let me help set things up and it felt good, I was laughin' with some of the NCOs and the airman. There is none of that, "well I'm higher then you in grade so you listen to me, and haha" crap I hear about.
I'm definitely joining but, I just don't know how I will get promoted...
TL;DR I am someone ready to join Civil Air Patrol, but I have a condition limiting me from doing excessive PT.
Hello, I'm Garuda2020, I am new to the website and I was messing with something and was like let's type in "none@gmail.com"
And now I'm here.
If you have a medical condition that will restrict your ability to participate in PT, talk to the squadron commander about applying for a waiver, there is a process to address it. The local squadron should be able to answer all your questions, and help you go through it when you submit your application for membership. The process is fairly simply; there is a waiver form that will need to be signed by your doctor, indicating what restrictions are appropriate and for how long. The squadron commander will be able to point you in the right direction.
On the back of the application there is a medical form, if there are any answers that require a yes answer, your Physician will be asked to write a letter detailing what you can or cannot do. There are four PT categories:
1. No restrictions
2. Temporary limitation (broken bone, recovering from operation,) but you are expected to return to unrestricted PT.
3. Limited. You can do some things, but not others
4. No PT
These profiles will not keep you from participating or advancing in CAP.
Your physical limitations will not hinder your enjoyment or advancement in CAP. If you "do the paperwork", go have some fun and develop some great memories and experiences. The Cadet program is worth the effort you will put into it.

What unit is 037? I was in WIWG for many years and 2 friends are squadron commanders up there.
