Title: Nebraska Wing HQ victim of flash flooding
Post by: Johnny Yuma on May 10, 2015, 07:30:59 PM
Apparently the 13 inches of rain SE Nebraska got Friday caused massive flash flooding at Camp Ashland. 18+ inches of floodwater in every building including NEWG HQ. From what I've gotten in email the water's receded but most of the furniture and a lot of equipment damaged and destroyed.

Zounds. Done more than one DR op in that part of the country in the past 20 years. Stuff can be replaced but I hope the people are okay....

This is a little late and sorry for resurrecting this thread after a month, but...

I helped clean up the NEWGHQ several weeks ago. No one was present during the flood in the 3 buildings (or any of the surrounding barracks), so that's good. Anything that was not at least about 3' off the floor of the buildings was flooded, so as you can imagine it was a lot of computers, furniture, files, etc. We were able to save metal/plastic furniture and things that were elevated. The national guard will rehab the buildings and then we will move back in. In the meantime, the Nebraska Wing is operating out of a temporary HQ at a local squadron office.

Good to hear!
