Title: Grammar Boy strikes again
Post by: Garibaldi on February 15, 2015, 09:24:26 PM
Because I am a grammar Nazi, and I am sick of seeing bad grammar and ill-used tenses, I want people to choose between "then" and "than" to fill the blank in the following sentence:

"I would rather be hugged ________ eaten."

Go. Your response is indicative of not only your mental state, but your ability to perceive a spatial relationship between two events.

I would rather be hugged than eaten. Then implies I want to be eaten after being hugged.

While we are on oft-confused words, I'll add:

their, there, they're
to, too, two
of, have (this one is so weird, I see people 'of you seen that?', and it drives me nuts)

and a spelling-nazi entry: definitely, definately

Which is why you engage Brain before engaging fingers when you post.

And it's still bad form and against the rules to nuke a post. Want it to disappear?  Have a mod do it.

Agreed.  If they choose to restore it, that is their choice and I cannot complain.

Interesting question...Yes, no nuking posts...but if it's something that comes off wrong (miss typed Six, etc.), you can edit the post...
