I learned today that my good friend Maj Rick Finkelstein passed away last night. Many people here knew Rick. In addition to Rick being the backbone of the unit I commanded, Rick and I were personal friends. Rick and his wife Jill were occasional members here on CAPTalk as well. Although he did to post much he routinely lurked here. I know many members here knew Rick.
Rick was a retired school teacher who took a sincere interest in kids who just needed a break in life but he was far from being a push over for just any sad story.
Most recently Rick was the commander of Sq 112 in Fresno CA, and recently stepped into a group position. He will be missed. A good friend, and a man who always put others before himself even at his own inconvenience.
Take care bud.
