Title: Mishap-Free Certificate
Post by: James Shaw on January 22, 2015, 02:21:06 PM
Cleaning out the CAP stuff and found this in my files from when I was a squadron commander. Anyone else remember this program that was so short lived?

Memories...

Elvis Presley - Memories (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwE7H4p1Whs#)

The reality is that mishaps are more rare then decorations, despite a lot of conversation
regarding them (as it should be).

It usually took 6 months to get them distributed, and the unintended consequence was that unit CCs
became reluctant to file 78s because they didn't want to "bust their certificate".

Not to mention a fair amount of conversation about who files the 78 at activities like
SAREx and encampments, because the mishaps got charged to the member submitting them.

I understand the program was scrapped after a couple of nasty paper cuts. I suppose it was to be expected, with all those certificates floating about.

I remember those.  We had them, but I can't remember how long it went on.
