Post by: alexalvarez on April 15, 2007, 02:44:07 PM
How many posts do you have to make to move up in position? For example from recruit to member.

So if I earned my commision through the military, and have so far achieved the rank of O-4, would I hypothetically enter CAPTalk at the rank of Member?? Oh wait... I am getting confused with another topic on the board ::)

I was just curious... aside from the titles you show above and the 'mod' titles I have seen a few whos tag reads : 'VIP'  could you explain it please? -- I know what a VIP is, but how does it bear on this forum?

And hey...  anything  for folks with more then 1,000 posts??
- not suggesting or begging , just curious.
                  thanks...

VIPs are those folks who have made significant contributions here and on other fora, or who have a huge BTDT factor in the credibility department.

Okay, how about "suspended"?

I think I know what that means, but why can they still post?

Dr. Dave

Individuals who's account status reflects "Suspended" are able to login and view the boards, but they do not have posting privileges.  They can read and respond to Personal Messages, however.

You may see posts that were made by suspended individuals before they became suspended.  In addition, most suspensions are temporary in nature.  They are designed to allow the poster time to cool off and reflect upon their behavior in relation to the CAPTalk Code of Conduct (http://captalk.net/index.php?topic=13.0).  Eventually, for most, that designation goes away.

For more habitual violators of forum decorum ( :) ), there is the more restrictive classification of "ban".  Banned users can not login to their accounts, cannot receive or respond to PMs, and obviously cannot post.  Bans are usually long-term in nature and are only reserved for those who demonstrate continual disregard for policies, or repeatedly circumvent a suspension.  Banned users' status may or may not be reflected publically.

Thankfully, our site staff rarely has to use either of these, since most of you behave in a professional and courteous manner.  Keep up the good work.   :)
