QuoteARLINGTON, Va. (8/6/14) – After undergoing an intensive internal review, the Army National Guard is set to make changes to its sports sponsorship approach to recruitment marketing.  These substantial changes include an end to its sponsorship of NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Graham Rahal in the Indy Racing League (IRL).

CAP did pick it up, 15 years ago at an admitted loss of $3 million dollars (some reports show the loss at the high side of $5 million). The race car sponsorship ended as a dismal failure after two years.

I'd say "cost" is a more appropriate word then "loss" - it's cost of advertising - I can't imagine
there was ever any expectation of revenue.

That doesn't make it a good idea, regardless.

Ahhhhh, so that explains the strange if not unusual winning streak Junior has been having.  They want to make sure the boy gets a sponsor.  Interesting, but does make one wonder about the ability of NASCAR to control who wins...
