Title: Filthy lucre, crass commercialism
Post by: SunDog on June 29, 2014, 02:01:28 AM
Letting it go, Louie!  Heading for the exit,  bowing out, going back where I came from, shoving off!

And, if you are of a certain size, my departure can be your gain! Stride on over to the Marketplace link and take a look at the stuff I'm putting up for sale - some new uniform items never worn, washed, or ironed!

Two Nomex flight suits (and ignore the anti-Nomex crowd) rememere, in a 182 you are inches from about a 1/4 ton of the most flammable, highly explosive liquid most humans will ever encounter - all contained in thin walled aluminum tanks. Any impact hard enough to cause you injuries is often followed by flames in GA aircraft. Note: the MA-1 knock-off jacket I'm selling is NOT/NOT Nomex. . . I'm keeping my Nomex flight jackets!

And Blue BDU's, never used! 99% of my CAP career was in Polo and greys, or flight suits. Wore the blazer like three, maybe four, times in 13 years.  Bought  the BBDUs but never found the need for 'em!

The Blue Nomex is great for protection and good lucks, yet sets you apart form the USAF posers and wannabes, if that's your druthers. If not, and your mob is in love with USAF Sage Green instead, that's cool! Buy 'em both, and re-gift (or sell) the Blue Nomex!

For Captains (and I was a Lifer Captain, and proud of it!), that annoying, one of a kind little set of bars is included for the blue blazer pocket thingy, also included.

So, come on down to the masrketplace, and help shove Sundog out the door, and save yourself some bucks at the same time!

Sorry to see you go. Just from this forum I've seen many SM's heading the same direction. Hard to tell how many others are out there we never hear about. Good luck!!

Seconded.

I think there is a lot of apathy/ennui in CAP these days.

No worries; bit of a relief actually.  Time is precious, and I have some things I want to in aviation.  13 years and some hundreds of flying hours in CAP were often fun. . .but time to move on, and be rid of the aggravation.

I'd rather be flying!

Blue Nomex is sold, some of the other junk, too. . .

BBDU's remain, but that's understandable - looking at them, I see the fabric is kinda cheesy, probably not suited for the field, and it is one butt-ugly uniform. The color may make more sense than woodland camo, but it looks like an un-made bed. No wonder no one wants it. I'll drop it off at my soon-to-be-former sqdn, perhaps it can be of some use for a new member, someday. . .

I am shocked and appalled at the lack of interest in the Sage Green Nomex, though, after hearing so much, for so long, about CAP member's great affection for all things USAF - maybe it's the size (44L)?  A bit "snug" for much of the target audience, perhaps? Low carb it for a while, maybe, and try it again later?

I'll check PMs through July before closing shop - shout out re: the Sage Green Nomex if you have an interest. . .
