Title: G1000 Operations
Post by: blackrain on June 09, 2014, 03:45:48 AM
Our 182 G1000s do not have vertical guidance on the RNAV approaches. My question are there G1000 setups in CAP that do have vertical guidance?

We have a 2012 182T NAV III that has vertical guidance for GPS approaches supporting SBAS vertical guidance (LNAV+V, L/VNAV, LPV).

NOTE: The Glidepath Indicator is only shown for aircraft with GIA 63W Integrated Avionics Units when SBAS is available.  You may have an older 182T with the non-WAAS GIA 63.

Good to know. We have some of the earlier G1000 platforms (2005) There was a disconnect for some who assumed all G1000 platforms had the same capabilities. Pays to be careful and verify exactly what a particular A/C can do.

The older aircraft may be able to be upgraded with a new GIA 63W but I'm not sure if NHQ is funding this.

Most of the ones that don't seem to have the KAP140 autopilot.  The GFC700 is much more integrated, and seems to be where they put a few more bells and whistles.

We have both in our wing, and some of the differences can trip you up if you don't pay enough attention.

upgrading a G1000 to a WAAS capable unit is not a cheap process.  Esentially the entire module needs to be replaced.
