For those of you who haven't seen them yet, Squadron Posters (http://www.squadronposters.com/) has some really neat vintage travel posters for military units. I was wondering if they could design a poster for CAP, but I have a few questions for the CAP community first.
1.) What CAP logos/designs are they not allowed to publish due to copyright, etc? I don't know the technicalities of their usage.
2.) What elements could they include to develop a poster for us?
Take a look at some of their art, and I'd be happy to hear your suggestions. If this concept can work, I'll give them the link to this thread when I make the request.

CAP logos and indices are available for non-commercial use by members without any special permission.
(i.e. if you want to make recruiting posters or pretty much anything else for CAP use, no issue, however
if you intend to sell anything, or use them for fund raising, etc., you'd need permission).

Looking at the examples, I don't think they would have to use a CAP logo to be effective. Just a Cessna in red and blue stripes would convey the message.

A CAP plane circling over some wilderness would probably be all you need, if you're going for the same retro theme. If you start introducing logos and details like wreckage they're finding, you lose the "hopeful" or "golden era" feeling and overall theme of the posters and create something else entirely.
Me likey!

Thanks for the info. This is might be where 'Big V' would want to step in though. How hard do you imagine getting the permissions would be, and through what channels?

Vanguard has nothing to say about this - they license the use of the insignia from CAP, not vice versa.
Again, if you're intending to use these for non-commercial CAP use, no permission is required.
Otherwise, you'll need the Wing CC's approval for the fundraising aspect, and your Wing JA would be where to
start with the permission issues.
"V" doesn't care, unless you are selling something. Posters for recruiting or squadron use is fine, unless you plan on mass producing them and selling them.

Even then it's not VG's concern, they license for insignia and uniforms, not "everything".
I was under the impression that they didn't like anyone besides Vanguard making CAP products.
Also, for clarification, this isn't intended to be a fundraiser. It's just for them to produce a nice CAP poster for members to enjoy.

If the idea is that they will sell them on their website, and profit off of them, you'll need permission.
For example, say you intended to make coffee mugs on Cafe press to be purchased at cost by members,
maybe for a specific activity, etc. No special permission needed.
If you intended to
sell them to
members as a fundraiser, you'd need the permission from the Wing CC for
the fundraiser itself, but not the insignia.
If you intended to allow cafe press to sell them to the general public as a fundraiser, or even the general membership
at anything but actual cost, you'd likely need permission for both the fundraiser itself and use of the insignia.

Great, thank you for the clarifying!
