Title: Status of the BISC
Post by: Eclipse on November 12, 2013, 03:10:36 AM
Anyone heard anything about whether the BISC might get their road show up and running again for FY14?

We were due to host it in FY2013 but due to travel cuts it was cancelled.
I've got a message in to my AFRCC contacts, but maybe someone has already heard something.

We've gotten word through the chain that the 5-day SMC will be offered at various times this year but nothing on the BISC.
I would hate to lost this as a resource for CAP, it's an excellent class.

I didn't know that they were cancelled.  I asked Dan Conley about this when the sequestration was first announced and he was under the impression that the AFRCC/CC and the 1AF/CC deemed the BISC mission essential.  It really is a good class and I think that they've made it a required prerequisite for the Inland SAR Planner's Course...or at least discussion was made to that effect.

I've heard nothing about the BISC, but here's the 2014 schedule for the Inland SAR School (https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=gmail&attid=0.2&thid=142151fe69842158&mt=application/pdf&url=https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui%3D2%26ik%3D042fdec7fe%26view%3Datt%26th%3D142151fe69842158%26attid%3D0.2%26disp%3Dsafe%26realattid%3Dbf99c3e40b2d842f_0.1%26zw&sig=AHIEtbS4vusovPbNnLjFR0jmRV_16I1xdg) that was sent down over our wing email list.

It's still up and running. One of the local PDs in the state got one scheduled for later this FY (which I found out when I first contacted them six months ago to try to set one up).

You can check the schedule here:
