Someone told me that if I were to bring a 24hr pack I would be sent home upon arrival. Is this true?
A lot of items on the packing list are also 24 hour pack items, but note that some 24 hour pack items are prohibited. Just follow the official packing list and there's nothing to worry about. However, if you did pack contraband, it would most likely just be collected and perhaps returned at the conclusion of the activity.
Last year's packing list: http://www.ncsas.com/file.cfm/media/careerfairs/documents/06_Packing_List_2013_8A2A8D35CB7A2.doc (http://www.ncsas.com/file.cfm/media/careerfairs/documents/06_Packing_List_2013_8A2A8D35CB7A2.doc)
Sent home. Really? Seems like a really heavy handed approach, don't you think?
I can imagine them playing a game of "lets see how many people we can bump .. to send them home, right when it's too late to get replacements easily."
Great way to run an event.
On the flip side, why is it so hard to follow a packing list instruction?

That's incorrect. Items noted on the packing list as contraband will be confiscated and placed in a labelled ziplock bag. Those bags will be sorted alphabetically by flight, and placed in the Admin shack for the duration of the activity. They'll be returned either immediately following the graduation banquet or immediately prior to an individual Cadet's departure.

Really? You really believe national would allow an ncsa to operate that way?
Way to bash an activity on the random "someone said" post.... ::)
It looks like basically knives and matches are what's banned.
I understand the matches, but a GTM'er without his Leatherman? BLASPHEMY!!!!!!

No, actually. I would hope they -wouldn't- allow such a ridiculous waste of resources, time and people's money to go on like that.
My point was, the ridiculousness of the question. Yes, absolutely. Think about the utter silliness if the answer to that question was yes.
Hence, I simply do not understand why people can't look at a packing list and go "yes, yes, no, yes, no, no" and pack accordingly.
These "I was told", "I heard", and such "rumors" just need to stop. Crack open the manual, the instruction, the O-Plan, the invitation sheet, whatever, and see what it says.
If an activity is run that willy nilly, then NHQ -does- need to shut it down. Pronto.
Really? A cadet reports to an activity after a day of commercial air travel, straight from the arrival gate, and would get sent home for uniform issues? That's completely stupid. If they're doing it, they need to stop it. If they're using it as a threat, that's a bunch of Bravo Sierra.
