A friend of mine was a member or CAP for a year two years ago and now he wants to rejoin, is there a way for him to reactivate his old membership and regain his grade and awards or does he have to start from scratch?
39-2 spells it out pretty clearly.
Seeing as how you're a cadet, I assume your friend is also a cadet. I imagine that he would not be eligible for reinstatement of grade and awards since it's been 2 years. I can't find anything in the regs regarding reinstatement of cadet rank and awards after a break in service. Sounds like a question for your DCC or squadron personnel officer.
He gets credit for everything he's done. National should still have his records.

CAPR 39-2 para 2-4 a (1). Cadets rejoining after a break in service will be credited with previous accomplishments as evidenced in their personnel files.
Thank you guys! My friend qualified for accelerated promotions, but he didn't want to waste a few months regaining his old status.
Now THAT's dedication to duty! :P ;D
Seriously though, that's too bad, a couple months with accelerated promotions isn't a bad deal...
Normally it wouldn't be but he is going into his senior year of highschool and he doesn't want to waste any time.
