So I'm going to be a Flight Commander at this year's Encampment. This will be my first time as ENC staff. I'm trying to get together some goals for my flight. I have two so far:
1. Receive Honor Flight designation for entire Encampment
2. Attain the highest scores in inspections
Maybe I'm just having a mental block, but at the moment I'm having trouble coming up with others. Help would be appreciated.
Enjoy yourself.
Learn something.
Oh yeah, my squad commander says it's mandatory that I have at least five...
Or what?
Go. Have fun. Learn something.
You are there for the cadets in your flight.
Here are three off of the top of my head...
All of your cadets graduate.
Your flight arrives on time, every time.
Nobody gets hurt.

+1
Honor flight is worth diddley-squat if your flight didn't learn anything important.
This is what is wrong with not only CAP in general these days but society in general as well. Seeking acclaim, recognition, fame, awards, etc. rather than knowledge and experience is a fool's mission.

Yep. I have no idea what it means to attain "honor flight", but I want it!
When in actuality, the cadets who seek out the richest learning environment form themselves and their flight, with disregard to any awards, are the ones that
generally wind up at the front of the line every day for chow.
Perhaps more appropriate goals would be team goals that reflect the starting point of the team. Increase GK and PT scores. Decrease run times by 10% (even if a lot still don't pass). Mentor a cadet. Be mentored. Display our values in all you do. Remember, making a 12 yo cry and drop out to increase you inspection score is not what we are here for.

Good Goals.....don't forget the basics.
1. Ensure all my cadets complete the encampment.
2. Ensure that all the training requirements are met.
3. Ensure all my cadets have fun at encampment.
4. Ensure that all my cadets are safe at encampment.
5. Ensure that my squadron commander gets beat up in the middle of the night by giving us stupid "leadership" tasks.
This is so dumb.
"each flight commander needs to come up with five goals".......this is fake leadership. It is one week event. You tell them the goals.....and then push.
If you really want to make your squadron commander go nuts.....try these goals.
1. All my cadets complete the Charles Yeager Aerospace Education Award.
2. All my cadets earn their Solo Wings.
3. All my cadets qualify for the Spaatz Award.
4. All my cadets earn a Find a Life Saving Ribbon.
5. All my cadets join the USAF Academy.
These are all worthy goals. :)
Good information. Thanks for the replies.
