Title: Civic Leadership Academy Selectivity Questions
Post by: C/Arose on March 24, 2013, 01:04:04 AM
Hi all,

Does anyone know how selective CLA is? Meaning, for the twenty-four slots, how many applicants are their usually? Are the slots divided in some way among wings or is it based solely upon merit?

Will programs like YMCA Youth and Government, American Legion Boy's State, and the like improve chances for admission?

Thank you,

C/MSgt Alex L. Rose

I do not believe I've ever seen pictures of CLA with anyone under C/Capt.

Minimum requirement is Mitchell and 16 years old by February of the year applying, and I concur with never seeing anyone below Captain.

My understanding is that it sits up there with COS and IACE in terms of selectivity among the eligible applicants.

It's selective, but not impossible to get in to. VAWG sent four cadets this year, and not all of them had earned their Earhart. They were all top-notch troops, though.

CLA is an awesome opportunity. I wish they had it when I was a cadet.
