How is this related to CAP, It is not an aviation thing, and just to make the connection of SAR is just far to broad, do you know how many SAR missions are held daily... well neither do I haha, but its alot. Is there something special that we are all supposed to take away from this, or are we supposed to learn from this in some way?

The information I see indicates perhaps not all of the rescuers were military. Were some of them perhaps volunteers who coordinated with the RAF? It was obviously a challenging search that the US ANG would probably do coordinating with a state agency. It would be great to see the after action report. I think there are some states where CAP resources could be trained, equipped and used by the ANG for a similar mission.
