Happy New Year to all, and a hearty "See Ya! Wouldn't wanna be ya!" To 2012. For whatever reason the whole year felt
a little "off" to me, and it certainly wasn't a banner year for me in CAP. More than a couple long-time CAP colleagues and a few
really good CAP friends passed on or dropped off the roles while the various news stories and financial status of the US didn't help any either.
So...
Steaks on, feet up, movie in the player, Lucky 2013 here we come!

It is now 2013 where I am, so Happy New Year to all! I wish you a happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous 2013. 2012 was a kick in the [pants] to many, so here's hoping 2013 is a darn sight better to all.
Cheers!

Amen. I've never been so glad to see a year end! Here's hoping that 2013 is a good one for all of us!
Heh, I'm actually tearing up a little ;-)
I've had it with this year. I want it to be gone. Tridecaphobics beware. The year of 13 is here. Can it be any worse? ;-)
Well, other than these crappy bands playing on TV at the New Years Eve bash, im doing Quite Well. My VA Disability should hopefully increase by June, Hopefully get that Promotion (Doubt It) and i pick up 2lt in Jan!!!
Quoting Queen Elizabeth II, exactly 20 years later, my summary of the year:
1992 "2012 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. In the words of one of my more sympathetic correspondents, it has turned out to be an Annus Horribilis."
Happy New Year! (let us pray)
Mike
I don't know...2012 brought me my wonderful fiancée and my introduction to CAP. Can't argue that 2013 will be even better, but I don't think it's so bad! Happy New Year's to all!
Happy New Year, y'all!
2012 for me was a year of fast chain climbing. Before I knew it I made it to the top. 2012 was my best year as a cadet and CAP member so far, and I am hoping to make 2013 the year I make things even better for me and my cadets.

Did I miss a major change to the cadet program? When did attaining the Mitchell equate to making it to the top? Last I knew there were/are 3 more milestones before the top of the program is reached.
2012 was definitely a year full of challenges and tribulations - some of them for the better and some of them for the worse. I am happy to have 2012 in the history books and move on to bigger and better things in the new year myself. Happy New Year to all of my fellow CTers and I hope you all have a great year!

I guess he made the top of the bottom.

For my 2013 CAP New Year's Resolution, I resolve not to be snarky and nit-pick other people's posts, especially when I take their words out of context... ::)
[Pretty sure he meant that he "made it to the top" of the chain (2012) he was climbing, not to the top of the cadet program... I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but whatever: nothing feels quite as good as making ourself feel better by making someone else feel smaller and smashing their motivation in the process. YMMV.]

I was not being snarky or nit-picky. I chose not to assume his intent and ask an honest question.
As for resolutions, I do not make them as they generally, very quickly fall by the wayside as we can already see.

Oh, I see now.
I assume from your login name that you're either the mother of a Spaatz recipient or you are a Spaatz recipient yourself who is now also a mother--in any case, someone who probably has a pretty good handle on the state of our cadet program. And your post was simply an "honest question" as to whether there was a major change to the cadet program that you were just now hearing about from a cadet on CAP Talk... And that you weren't being the slightest bit snarky about "equating the Mitchell to the top of the program"--when as we all know, the
Spaatz is the top of the program--an award that has some amount of personal significance to you... I see.
So that's your story then? Okay, I buy it.
And as to resolutions, I can see that sarcasm definitely isn't lost on you...
The first CT bickering of 2013! The year has officially begun! ;D
FWIW, just as an observation, AngelWings posted in another thread that he's looking at getting his Mitchell this year. My reaction to the "reaching the top" post was similar tho that of spaatzmom, "the top of what?"

I wouldn't call it bickering so much as just sticking up for someone who didn't deserve the smackdown he got. But in any case, I'm glad to be of service.
Happy New Year! ;D

Sorry you felt that my post was a smack down when it was not.
SMDH...
