Hi my name is Priddy and I live in Texas. What are the requirements to join?
The first question is how old are you? Requirements vary on cadet versus senior status.
I'm 34 yr old female.
Passing a FBI background check, have no felony convictions, pay the membership dues. What are you looking to do or get out of CAP?
Well you would be considered for senior membership which is for anyone who joins over 21. The first step is if you haven't find a Squadron near you and contact them. Attend 3-4 meetings and determine if you think the CAP is for you, and the recruiter and commander will speak with you while you attend the first few meetings as a guest. Different states and regions have different dues when you join, and you will have to purchase one of the basic uniforms. Civil Air Patrol is a great organization and I personally have had much fun in my seven years as a member. ;D
I'll pass the requirements since I'm in the coast guard auxiliary. CAP just sounds like a lot of fun and great learning experience.

It really is. I recommend that you keep your mind open and ask questions. Be realistic about what is expected of yourself and of your unit.
If there is more then 1 Squadron within commuting distance, check them all out to see which best suits you.
Cool thanks guys!
Welcome to CAP, CAPTalk, and good luck to you!
Good Luck and welcome...
What City/State would you be looking to in regards to CAP? Make sure you search the main CAP website for local units within your area. Three types of squadrons exist in CAP; Cadet, Composite, and Senior. Figure out what it is you want to not only contribute to CAP, but what you also want out of CAP. If you want to work with cadets, then seek out a cadet squadron, etc...
Like others have posted, make sure you visit more than one unit, if possible. Visit that unit more than one time to gain an understanding of how they conduct the meetings and what material/activity is covered. And, most importantly, ask questions about the unit and what the expectations around your participation would be.
Most of all...have fun !!!
THE DONUTS ARE A LIE!!!
Otherwise I've gotten everything out of joining CAP that I had hoped and then some.
Welcome and good luck in your decision making process!
I hope you decide to join.

No, the cake is a lie. Donuts are just stretching the truth.
In our squadron the donuts are not a lie ;). At least not at O-flights.

Donuts and cake!
See why some of our members have to wear Whites and Grey? They gain pounds just by thinking!
