Good evening, all. Having completed my Basic Encampment last summer, I would like to apply for a NCSA this year. Does anyone have any suggestions? What was your favorite NCSA? To those I've talked to, NBB and PJOC seem to be popular choices. However, I would love to hear what people thought from their experiences at different NCSAs.
Thoughts?
It all depends on what you want to do. You'll have vastly different types of experiences. Have you looked at the full list of NCSAs and their descriptions? Check out http://ncsas.com (http://ncsas.com)
NBB might be a good way to go for your next one. You'll get to meet a lot of folks from different parts of the country as well as stay a week in my favorite state and have some cheese.
PJOC is a butt-kicker, plain and simple. You'll do a LOT of physical exercise and activities, and if you're not prepared or in decent shape you might want to consider something else. I'm not saying it's bad, just that it involves a lot of physicality.
If you're into flying and want your pilot's license, and you're within the age range, you might want to check into a flight academy.
Be sure you check the requirements/cost for the activities you are interested in since that can vary from activity to activity.

Not only that, but cost of travel can vary significantly, too.
Thank you all. I did check out the page, but I wanted to see what people's person opinions were. I would love to go to NBB, but I found out I won't be old enough for this summer. Hopefully next summer. I'm very interested in PJOC, as I do like physical fitness, and am fit. I do know I would need to get into even better shape before attending, though.
Has anyone here been to any of the flight academies? That's another one I think I might apply for.

Back in the day, when I was a cadet, yes. I had a great experience at powered flight academy. It will give you a huge jump start on your PPL should you want to pursue that. The only caveat I offer is that flight academy is a stellar intro jump course to flying, but if you're not financially and otherwise prepared to continue with your flight training through PPL after that you're losing out big time. If you want your pilot's license, you should aim for as little gap time as possible from finishing/soloing at a CAP flight academy and hopping in the plane at your local FBO to finish your license. A CAP Flight Academy is an incredibly cheap (comparatively) way to get a jump start on that.
SUPTFC. You get the a taste of what Air Force pilot training is like. You should really do it if you're considering a career in military aviation.

Texas or Missisipi, Sir? I also am applying for NBB.
Pomegranate,
Howdy! Having been to many NCSAs a over the years, I will be happy to give you some recommendations. Firstly, though, I must ask - what is your age and CAP grade? Do you prefer leadership development type of activities or tough guru, hands-on activities? The answer to those questions will depend on my recommendations.

Regrettably, I never had the opportunity nor time to do so. A few of my buddies went several years ago, however!

I am a C/MSgt, however I will be a C/SMSgt in about three weeks. Would it matter if I applied now as opposed to C/SMSgt? And if it's alright I'll PM you my age.
To be honest, I like both. I think I prefer the harder, hands-on activities, but I like leadership ones as well.

Did they like it? It's my second choice.
